What is a 6 luxury rose bouquet or 12 luxury rose bouquet and what will I get?
If you place an order for either of these beautiful bouquets, you will be sending or receiving luxury ‘grade A’ roses – the top grade of roses available. Whether you order the 6 or 12 rose bouquet, you will receive the rose stems, mixed with some complementing foliage, such as eucalyptus, ruscus and grasses. We also include some other flowers that we call ‘fillers’. These act as a secondary focal point to complement the roses and make them shine. Fillers can vary depending on stock, but we usually use items such as gypsophillia, limonium or thistles – these will be hand tied together in order to create your bouquet, before being gift wrapped, ready for collection or delivery.
What are the meanings of different rose colours?
Red – Love
White – Peace
Pink – Appreciation
Yellow – Friendship
Orange – Desire
Red & White – Unity
How long does a bouquet of flowers last and what should I do to keep them fresh?
To keep your flowers fresh for as long as possible, you should cut the ends of the stems at a sharp angle, then put them in a vase of fresh water with a flower food sachet. Flowers should then be placed in a cool room with the stems re-cut and water changed every other day.
When it comes to keeping stem-cut flowers fresh, there are various other methods you could try – some of which work, others don’t. Here’s a breakdown of what will help your flowers stay fresh.
Put a Penny in the Vase
This myth has some factual evidence to back it up. Copper is a fungicide, so adding a penny to the water in your vase helps protect your flowers from bacteria. This is similar to what florists do when they add little packets of antibacterial chemicals. It is also recommended that the penny be accompanied by an aspirin, which is acidic and helps water flow through your flowers.
Add Bleach
A little bleach serves the same purpose as the penny. Bleach kills bacteria, but it will also whiten the stems of your flowers if you use too much. Again, an acidic element is needed, so many people pair bleach with lemon juice, lemon-lime soda or vinegar. Remember, a little bleach goes a long way.
Add Sugar
When flowers are cut at the stem, they immediately begin to lose out on nutrients. Adding sugar to water in your vase will give your flowers the nutrients to continue growing – however, this comes at a cost. Sugar also encourages the growth of bacteria, which can cause your flowers to smell and ultimately lead to their swift decay. So sugar should be accompanied by an antibacterial agent as well.
Add Vodka
Using this alcoholic spirit helps slow down the rate at which flowers ripen, but too much can kill your flowers. Only a few drops of vodka should be added to the water in your vase.
The most important thing to remember when trying any of these methods is to exercise moderation. Flowers primarily need water, and adding too much bleach, soda, sugar or vodka will potentially endanger their longevity.
It’s always best to use the flower food sachets you can get from your local florists. But if in doubt, just fresh water changed often will do just fine.
How do I arrange a free consultation?
You can make an appointment to meet with us at our business premises, or at your home. During your appointment, we’ll be able to discuss, in detail, what you require for your wedding day. Your initial consultation is free and there is absolutely no obligation to book with us. To make an appointment, please contact us.
When do I need to book you for my wedding flowers?
As soon as possible – it doesn’t matter if you haven’t yet chosen all of your wedding flower requirements, as we can discuss this at a later stage. The most important thing is that you book the date with us, as like all good wedding suppliers, we get booked up very quickly.
When do I need to make a firm decision on my wedding flowers?
Initially, all that’s required is the securing of your date. This can be done up to 2 years in advance. Once you have booked, and unless you know exactly what your requirements are, a meeting with us is normally required 6 to 8 months before the date of your wedding. We ask for a booking deposit of £100.00 to secure your date – this is non refundable upon cancellation, but will be deducted from your final balance. You can make changes to your order up to 2 weeks before your wedding date.
What information do I need to bring to my appointment?
We will always need a colour swatch of bridesmaids dresses/mens ties/cravats, even if it’s a simple ‘pale pink’ colour. This allows us to match to the best of our abilities the right colour flowers for your wedding day. You can also bring with you any cut-outs you may have from magazines, or Pinterest boards, and any photos/brochures of your church and venue/marquee. However, if you don’t have any ideas yet, don’t worry – our extensive experience means that we can suggest a number of different themes for you to consider, and together, we can build an idea of what you want your wedding day to look like. We also have an extremely wide range of photos of previous weddings for you to get your ideas flowing!
Will you deliver and set up on the day of my wedding?
Yes, we normally deliver and set up between 1.5-2 hours before your service. Just let us know what you need, where, and leave the rest to us!
When do I need to pay for my wedding flowers?
We ask for payment 2 weeks before your wedding date, due to the advance ordering by us of your flowers with our suppliers. However, we can set up a monthly installment for you if you need to spread the cost. We reserve the right to cancel any wedding flower order if payment has not been made by the due date. We will not split the order or deliver until payment has been received in full.
We would like to do our own wedding flowers, can you supply us with cut flowers for this?
Yes, we can supply cut flowers, foliage and plant materials for you to create your own wedding flower displays, along with any sundries you may also need. The price will be at retail cost per stem, plus VAT. Regrettably, we cannot offer any discounts on these.
I'm not from your area, can you cover the rest of the UK?
Of course we can! We can cover any area of mainland UK, including the Isles of Scilly. Our prices are the same, but with an additional charge to cover fuel/travel costs and accommodation, if needed. Please contact us for more information.
When should I place my order for sympathy flowers?
We recommend that you place your order for sympathy flowers at least two working days prior to the required date. This allows us to make sure that we can order any specific flowers which you may require.
What information will you need when I place my order for sympathy flowers?
When you place your order for sympathy flowers from Wheal Sara Flowers, we will need to know the name of the deceased, the funeral directors full address and the time of the service.
Do you deliver sympathy flowers?
We do not usually deliver sympathy flowers to the deceased’s family home, unless it has been agreed with the family beforehand. This is because it is obviously a difficult time, and receiving such tributes on the morning of a funeral can be upsetting and distressing.
Can I order a bespoke sympathy flower tribute?
If you would like to order a bespoke sympathy flower tribute – something a little more personal to the deceased, then please contact us to discuss your requirements.
