About us

Wheal Sara Flowers is a small innovative designer florist shop, established in 2003 and situated in the stunning location of

St Ives, Cornwall.

Our senior designer Lizi Newbury started her floristry career at the age of 15 in Kent. In 2000 she and her family moved to Cornwall. Lizi attended Duchy College at Rosewarne in Camborne to achieve her NVQ qualifications to the highest standard. At the age of 20 she continued working in various florist shops throughout Cornwall.

Her passion for flowers and eye for design has enabled Lizi to teach, demonstrate, and judge floristry. After working at Wheal Sara Flowers from day 1, in 2006 at the age of just 21 she became sole proprietor, and the business is flourishing. In the future she hopes to create sister shops of Wheal Sara across the country!

Our head florist Lauren Thomas originally trained in art and design. Her love of flowers and plants along with art and design seemed a natural connection. Lauren decided to take her career further so she trained at Duchy College to become a florist, and in 2005 joined the Wheal Sara team and absolutely loves it!

Wheal Sara workshops

In 2007 we launched the Wheal Sara Flowers "Inspirational Design Workshops", providing our customers with the ability to watch, learn and create their own flower displays. With a handy step-by-step booklet you can create your designs again and again at home. The workshops proved extremely popular, and in light of our sucess are planning various more work shops throughout the coming year... so watch this space...
